How To Prevent Your Hair From Breaking?

Hair breaking or your hair snapping unfortunately occurs, its a matter of fact which we all want to prevent. It is annoying and the fact cannot be denied that it is not easy to prevent the breakage instantly, but it is not totally impossible.

Fortunately, here are some true secrets to prevent hair breakage...

1. Load moisture. Curly hair is dry and naturally breaks off as it becomes brittle. Natural curly hair features bends at every place and the hair curls and this prevents oil to travel down from the scalp to lubricate the hair. This is one of the significant reasons that there is a tendency for the african american hair to be more fragile and dryer, thus exposing to hair breakage. To ascertain these dry hair strands stay healthy, it is mandatory to apply moisturizer daily such as coconut oil so that the thirsty hair strands stay quenched or apply without fail a moisturizer daily, namely the coconut oil or a daily moisturizing oil. Later use every week a deep conditioning super-hydrating hair masque.

2. Tailor your routine. The amount suggested on the bottle for use never always works. So, the only way to understand the right or best way that works for your hair type is by error and trial. In case, you apply a complete bottle of coconut oil to your hair so that your hair strands stay moisturized, it is acceptable. Even, if you wish, you can watch the tutorials on the YouTube and understand other naturalistas having identical hair strands as yours, and it is absolutely fair. Remember, whatever you wish to do, you may do and make sense such that it works out for your mane. And, once you know the right formula, just follow it.

3. You must shampoo your hair if it is in jumbo twists or braids. If you take good care of your hair, there is very little chance of hair breakage or even getting into tangles.

4. Trimming regularly is a must. If you wish to grow a longer hair, you may be thinking, why you should consider a cut. The fact is that trimming is a must; you should not stop it completely. This is because trimming helps eliminating the split ends and this is the best way to avert damage to your hair and hair shaft that has split ends. Also allowing a professional to trim your hair once in every six weeks helps in keeping your hair in proper shape and thus the breakage is also decreased. If you are scared of trimming, you may request your stylist to do a ‘dusting’; this means the least amount is taken off.

5. Proteins taken in too much quantity also is bad. Though protein is required to strengthen your hair, taking too much protein makes your hair brittle and will lead to breakage. Creating a balance with extra moisture can be done by infusing strands between protein treatments.

6. Comb dry hair. Your hair is in a fragile condition if it is wet. If you want your strands to stay intact, comb using a wide tooth comb through your curls before washing. You may saturate using a pre-wash moisturizer. This is helpful as it allows your comb to slip through your hair with ease. Even if you lack time to do pre-shampoo detangle, you may douse your hair using leave-in conditioner. However, you must wait for your hair to dry at least halfway and then use a comb with wide tooth to get into the task of detangling strands.

7. Occasionally loosen up. Protective styles such as weaves, braids, etc, look great because there is no need about hair styling. However, if it is left in the same for a long period, it may add tension to the hair fiber thereby leading to breakage. Bear in mind, that braids must not be worn more than 10 weeks. Likewise, even with hair extensions, you must not leave them over two-three months.

8. Turn the heat down. It is not good to apply heat frequently to any hair type. Instead try tools that are heat-free such as flexi rods or hair rollers to wrap your hair or to create curls and maintain your style. If you dislike using a hot tool on your hair, you may maintain a 300 to 375 temperature and to move the hair tool continuously. For instance, in case it is a curling or straightening iron or even a bow-dryer, do not allow it to stay for long in one place, instead keeping it moving helps. Also if you use a hair dryer, try letting your hair dry out naturally instead, and if you do decide to use heat tools we suggest applying a thermal heat protective serum before.

9. Maintaining clean scalp. A healthy and clean scalp is a must for healthy hair growth, and so scalp cleaning is equally essential at least twice a week so that your scalp stays moisturized and averts scalp irritation, preventing hair loss. For scalp cleaning you may use a cotton ball and astringent and follow it with coconut oil light coating. Right now, if your hair is in locks, braids or wear extensions , following the scalp cleansing mentioned with a cotton ball, astringent, followed with coconut oil light coating. Remember, avoid using any hair grease as it clogs your hair follicles and pores to the extent that moisturizers and water is unable to penetrate your scalp and hair, resulting in breakage of hair strands.

10. Maintain a reliable routine. Getting often a relaxer means your hair strands will become brittle soon and break, besides suffering from hair dehydration. At the same time, if you take long gaps between each service, then too you have the risk of hair breakage. Thus, it is best to prevent over processing of the hair strands and it is best to consult with your hair stylist regarding the schedule required to maintain healthy and relaxed hair strands. In case you are relaxing your hair by yourself, apply to the new growth the relaxer, instead of putting it all over your hair, as this will end in breakage and hair becoming brittle.

11. Wash hair every week. Washing hair every day can make it dry and result in breaking easily. Washing daily may be required only if you have a super oily hair. However, if you consider washing biweekly, wash it using a dry shampoo so that it soaks up oils. Another way to keep clean strands of hair between shampoos is with a co-wash as this hydrates the hair strands, besides cleansing.

12. Wrap your hair with a silk scarf or use a silk pillowcase to sleep. This is because silk retains moisture. Sleep wrapping your hair in a soft silk fabric, it does not trigger friction between hair strands and also creates less breakage.

13. Most importantly avoid colouring or dying your hair, as this can seriously damage the hair cuticles.
